A small letter to my future, less anxious self

Things I wish I had told myself when the inbox first hit four digits.

Placeholder draft — replace with the real essay.

Dear future me: the inbox will always refill. That is not a problem to be solved, it is a property of the system, and you have spent more evenings than you’d like to admit trying to solve a property instead of living around it.

Marcus Aurelius kept telling himself the same handful of things every morning, in the same notebook, for years. Not because he forgot them, but because knowing a thing and being the kind of person who acts on it are different skills, learned differently.

What actually helped

Fewer tabs. A closing ritual for the workday that has nothing to do with the task list being empty, because it never will be. And the plain admission that most of what feels urgent by 5pm will look ordinary by the next morning.

This one’s short. It’s meant to be re-read, not analyzed.
